Exar Kun is a legendary Sith Lord from Legends, who began his journey as a promising Jedi Knight. However, his thirst for forbidden knowledge and power led him down a dark path, eventually transforming him into one of the most powerful Sith Lords of his era.

Driven by a desire to uncover ancient Sith secrets, Exar Kun traveled to the Sith Mausoleum on Korriban and later the jungle moon of Yavin IV, where he succumbed to the temptations of the dark side. Under the influence of ancient Sith spirits, Kun adopted Sith teachings and sought to rejuvenate the Sith Order. He became notorious for his mastery of Sith alchemy, creating dark side monsters and crafting potent Sith artifacts.

Forming an alliance with another fallen Jedi, Ulic Qel-Droma, Exar Kun waged a brutal war against the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order, an event known as the Great Sith War. This conflict led to widespread devastation, but Kun’s reign of terror ultimately faced opposition from the combined might of the Jedi. In a last bid to escape defeat, Exar Kun performed a ritual, binding his spirit to the temples on Yavin IV. Centuries later, this location would become significant when Luke Skywalker established a new Jedi Academy there, leading to a confrontation with the lingering dark legacy of Exar Kun.
