Jedi – Ulic-Qel Droma
Empowered with quick reflexes and blocked vision, Ulic-Qel Droma “had the heart of Jedi.” Ulic, a Dark Horse Comic character during the 90s, inevitably fell to the dark side—tarnishing arguably one of the best romantic relationships of the Star Wars Expanded Universe with Nomi Sunrider. However, Ulic and Nomi rekindle their love for each other thanks to their teenage daughter Vima in the story of “Redemption.”
With the ability to beam electricity and concentrated blasts of pure dark energy, it’s no wonder why Ulic-Qel Droma remains one of the most celebrated characters of the Extended Universe.
Jedi – Bastila Shan
During the Jedi Civil War, Shan was a human female who served as a Jedi Padawan. She was born on the planet of Taravin and was given up by her mother to the Jedi Order. Shan was known for her strength in battle meditation. With a unique ability to strengthen her allies’ morale while devastating the character of her enemy, Shan would fight against the Counsel and eventually transition her loyalty to Galactic Republic.
Jedi – Ahsoka Tano
Tano, a female Togruta, was a Padawan apprentice to Anakin Skywalker. Ahsoka Tano was celebrated for her incredible grace, curious personality, kindness, and faithfulness.
She is known as “Snips” to her Master and more commonly known as “Ashla” after the Clone Wars ended. Although she had a brief brush with the dark side in Star Wars Rebels, Ahsoka is largely celebrated for her incredible grace, curious personality, kindness, and faithfulness.
Jedi / Sith – Mara Jade
Blessed by beauty, cursed by evil—Mara Jade was a well known character in the Star Wars Expanded Universe. But before marrying Luke Skywalker after the Battle of Endor, she attempted to kill the Jedi leader due to her instilled loyalty to the Emperor. However, Skywalker was able to release Jade of her ties to the Dark Side and Sidious’ command while helping her hone her knowledge and skill in the Force.
Jedi / Sith – Galen Marek
Galen Marek is best known as his alias ‘Starkiller.’ Before he became a hero to the rebellion’s army, Marek was an apprentice to Vader. Galen Marek was kidnapped as a child and secretly trained as Vader’s apprentice behind the Emperor’s back.
Vader declared that Galen Marek was ready to fight the Emperor and asked him to rendezvous. However, Vader then betrayed and severely wounded Marek, claiming that the Emperor’s spies had learned of his existence. In order to prove his loyalty to the Emperor, Vader had to make it seem as though he had killed Marek, but saved him shortly after.
After Marek’s recovery, Vader ordered him to devise a “backup plan” to overthrow the empire by forming the Rebellion. Marek followed Vader’s orders and assembled three of what would become the Rebellion’s main members. However, this mission turned out to be yet another trick from Vader, who showed up and kidnapped all three of the Rebel leaders.
This is the last straw for Galen Marek. Angry at Vader, Marek travels to the Death Star to free the Rebels and confront Vader. Marek successfully defeats his former mentor. It is at this point that Sidious decides that Marek is stronger than Vader and would be a much better apprentice and consequentially urges Marek to kill Vader and take his place.
Instead, Marek attacks the Emperor in order to buy time for the Rebels to escape the Death Star. Although Marek ended up dying (spoiler alert) as the three Rebel leaders made their escape, he has been reveled as the “original architect” of the Rebel Alliance.
Sith – Darth Bane
Extremely powerful and capable of unleashing a hellfire of destruction upon his victims, Darth Bane was the son of an alcoholic, but was best known for establishing the “Rule of Two” and modifying the “OId Sith” practices. He lived to be 1,000 years old. His super healing powers, lightening fast speed, incredible ability to manipulate the Darkforce, and psychic powers made him a key instrument of evil in the dark side.
Sith – Darth Caedus/Jacen Solo
The eldest son of Han Solo and Princess Leia—Jacen is a key character who defeated Yuuzhan Vong and protected his galaxy. Jacen Solo, being grandson of Vader, turned against his friends and family to lead the Galactic Alliance. Due to the fact that he would sacrifice anything for his galaxy, he ended up falling victim to the Sith.
Sith – Darth Krayt
Similar to Starkiller’s surprising alliance to the rebellion, Darth Krayt, or A’Sharad Hett, started off as a Jedi Master only to be led by the dark side for most of his life. Tortured by Yuuxhan Vong, who infects him with implants, Darth Krayt becomes the founder of the One Sith and was known as a ruthless villain in the Expanded Universe. His acts of genocide, treason, and incredible abilities made him infamously celebrated and joyously hated.
Sith – Prince Xizor
Before his attempt to replace Darth Vader at the hand of the Emperor, Xizor was born into royal riches with the Falleen family. His rise to power came after the Clone War ended and the new Empire was born, he developed a strong relationship with the new Emperor. With intelligence and accurate marksmanship, Xizor remained a large component to the newly established Galactic Empire.
