Who is Maris Brood?
Maris Brood is a Zabrak Jedi Padawan from Legends who was trained by Jedi Master Shaak Ti. She was one of the few Jedi to survive the initial purge of Order 66, thanks in large part to the protective measures of her master. The two found refuge on the planet Felucia, a world dense with life and strong in the Force. As they hid from the ever-reaching hand of the Empire, Maris and Shaak Ti tried to maintain their connection to the Force and continue their training.
However, the prolonged exposure to Felucia’s dark energies, combined with the trauma of the Jedi Order’s decimation, began to affect Maris. Her struggle to keep to the Light Side became increasingly difficult, especially after a significant event involving her master.
When Starkiller, the secret apprentice of Darth Vader, arrives on Felucia on his mission to hunt down surviving Jedi, he encounters Maris, leading to a critical confrontation. Though Maris, now corrupted by grief and the Dark Side, challenges him in battle, Starkiller ultimately defeats her. Yet, he chooses to spare her life. This moment of mercy allows Maris to flee Felucia and vanish into the galaxy.
Maris Brood’s story is one of struggle, tragedy, and the fine line between the light and Dark Sides of the Force.
