Ahsoka's Lightsabers
Ahsoka Tano’s lightsabers are a fascinating reflection of her experience with the force. Initially, as a Jedi Padawan to Anakin Skywalker, she wields a single green lightsaber. Later, she adopts a dual-wielding style, incorporating a shoto (short lightsaber) with a yellow-green blade alongside her standard green lightsaber. This dual-wielding technique, often associated with lightsaber combat Form IV: Ataru, emphasizes agility, acrobatics, and a highly dynamic fighting style, reflecting Ahsoka’s skills.
After the fall of the Jedi Order, Ahsoka constructs a pair of white-bladed lightsabers, which she uses in “Star Wars: Rebels” and “The Mandalorian.” The white color of Ahsoka’s sabers signifies purity and neutrality, representing her commitment to justice and her own moral code rather than strict adherence to Jedi or Sith philosophies.
Who is Ahsoka Tano?
Ahsoka Tano, a Togruta from the planet Shili, emerged as one of the most dynamic and influential figures during and after the Clone Wars. Discovered by Jedi Master Plo Koon at a young age, she displayed a natural aptitude for the Force, leading to her eventual acceptance into the Jedi Order. As the Clone Wars ignited, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker took her under his wing as his Padawan. With her distinct dual lightsabers and spirited nature, Ahsoka quickly made her mark on the galaxy.
Throughout the war, Ahsoka’s bond with Anakin strengthened, and together they faced numerous challenges, from confronting dark side users to navigating the intricate politics of war. However, her path took a dramatic turn when she was falsely accused of a bombing on the Jedi Temple. Though she was eventually exonerated, the ordeal strained her relationship with the Jedi Order, leading to her painful decision to walk away.
Following her departure, Ahsoka’s journey led her through various adventures, from encountering the former Sith Lord Darth Maul during the Siege of Mandalore to battling an Inquisitor while hiding out on a remote moon. Eventually, she was recruited by Senator Bail Organa to join the growing rebel movement against the Galactic Empire. Under the codename Fulcrum, Ahsoka played a crucial role in the early days of the Rebel Alliance as she helped manage Senator Organa’s intelligence network. She provided intelligence to various rebel factions, including the Spectre cell led by Hera Syndulla and Kanan Jarrus, a fugitive Jedi who survived Order 66.
Ahsoka would go on several missions with the Spectres and act as their mentor and advisor, which included Kanan’s young Padawan, Ezra Bridger, and Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren. It was during this time that Ahsoka learned the terrible truth that the evil Darth Vader was none other than her former master, Anakin Skywalker. Shortly after this, Ahoska traveled to an ancient sith temple on the planet of Malachor alongside Jarrus and Bridger, where she was confronted by her former mentor for the first time since the end of the Clone Wars. An intense showdown ensued as the temple began to crumble. Ahsoka continued to duel Vader as the temple collapsed in order for Jarrus and Bridger to escape, seemingly meeting her demise.
However, a portal suddenly appeared and she was pulled into a mysterious dimension just before Vader could land the killing blow on his former apprentice. It turns out that Ahsoka was pulled into the portal by none other than Ezra Bridger, although two years older than he was during their mission to Malachor. She found herself in The World Between Worlds, a mystical plane within the Force that connects all of time and space. Ahsoka and Ezra would each go through portals that returned them to their own spots in time, vowing to meet each other again in the future.
Bridger would continue his fight against the Empire, which included defending his homeworld of Lothal against the ruthless Grand Admiral Thrawn and his Imperial forces. During the liberation of Lothal, Bridger used the Force to call upon a flock of purrgil, semi-sentient space whales who can fly through hyperspace, who inflicted heavy damage on Thrawn’s fleet. As Bridger engaged Thrawn on his starship, the purrgil wrapped themselves around the ship and jumped into hyperspace, taking them to another galaxy where they would remain in exile. The loss of Thrawn was a big one for the Empire and marked a turning point in the war.
The Galactic Civil War would come to an end a few years later as the Empire was defeated by the Rebel Alliance. Following the war, Ahsoka and Sabine would embark on a journey to find Ezra, who was presumed by many to be dead along with Thrawn and his forces. During this time, Ahsoka began to train Wren as her Padawan, but this relationship would turn into a turbulent one as time went on. The two parted ways on bad terms, but would reunite years later after hearing whispers of Thrawn’s return. They eventually found their way to the planet Peridea in a distant galaxy, reuniting with Bridger after a decade apart. Although they were unable to stop Thrawn from escaping his exile, Ahsoka and Sabine would repair their relationship and resume their roles as master and apprentice.
