Darth Malgus, born Veradun, is a Sith Lord from Legends who was a central figure during the days of the Old Republic. A Sith of great power and ambition, Malgus is known for his martial prowess, his tactical mind, and his deep-seated hatred for the Jedi and the Galactic Republic. 

Living thousands of years before the defeat of the Sith by Anakin Skywalker, he played a crucial role in the protracted war between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic during the Old Republic era.

From a young age, Veradun showed a natural affinity for the Dark Side, and upon joining the Sith ranks, he quickly distinguished himself in various battles and campaigns. After suffering a defeat from Jedi Master Satele Shan during an assault on Alderaan, Malgus led a devastating attack on the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, killing many Jedi and aiding in the temple’s destruction for a decisive Sith victory.

Beyond his battlefield achievements, Darth Malgus was also a forward-thinker and visionary. He harbored ambitions of reshaping the Sith Empire, often challenging its traditional hierarchies and methods. His relationship with a Twi’lek Eleena Daru, whom he cared deeply for, showcased a more complex side to his character, providing a glimpse into his personal philosophies and the contradictions that lay within him.

Thousands of years after his death, the Sith Lord Darth Bane would write about Malgus in his book, The Rule of Two, and his journals would even influence Darth Sidious and Darth Vader during the reign of the Galactic Empire.

In sharp contrast to the Jedi Code, The Rule of Two declared that a Sith apprentice must kill their Master to ascend to Master, a philosophy that, while not Malgus’s own, echoed his willingness to challenge tradition and authority.
