Ultrasabers is well known among Star Wars fans and collectors for offering a wide variety of design features in our line of lightsabers, though not everyone has a clear idea of what the best lightsaber to buy is. Choosing lightsaber blade length, color, accessories, and more all take careful consideration, both in customization creations and pre-made sabers.
Are you looking for a blue lightsaber to display your devotion to the Jedi cause or a red lightsaber to support the Sith? Do you prefer the expanded combat capabilities presented by the double-bladed lightsaber? Does your style demand a lightweight, single-blade lightsaber for quick flourishes, or a hefty blade for powerful swings? Every saber across the arsenal is available with these options and more, giving every fan and duelist access to the perfect configuration for their needs. For some of our customers, all these choices can be a bit overwhelming!
To help determine what is the best lightsaber to buy for your lifestyle, we’ve broken down the key considerations behind lightsaber blades, blade length, color, and dueling durability.

What Size Lightsaber Should I Get?
How long is a lightsaber blade, and what’s the right one for your height? The standard lightsaber blade length at Ultrasabers is 36 inches, but we offer a number of other sizes ranging from our 24-inch Initiate blades to extra-long options, or even custom sizes ranging from 4 inches for crossguard sabers to 40 inches for those who need additional reach. Another consideration is choosing a standard, rounded tip or a unique, pointed lightsaber blade tip.
When selecting your lightsaber blade’s length, please keep your own height in mind! Younglings and wielders under 55 inches tall often find themselves using a 32-inch blade, regardless of grade, while taller users tend to wield 36-inch blades (or even longer!).
Keep in mind that the blade is only part of the total size. Lightsaber length also includes the hilt and lightsaber pommel, resulting in a saber that can reach up to 20 additional inches, depending on your chosen hilt design.

What Color Lightsaber Should I Get?
Lightsaber color is usually the first thing to come to mind when designing a lightsaber, so we’ve made sure you have every option to ignite from the galaxy far, far away. Some people consciously select a color inspired by or associated with a specific element of Star Wars canon, like Luke Skywalker’s blue or green lightsabers or the red of Darth Vader’s blade, as well as most Sith blades. If you find yourself unable to commit to a single color, our Ultra Proffie Lite Soundboard allows you to change your blade color whenever you feel like it, as well as provide a number of other awesome options, such as Flash on Clash and different blade styles.

What Is The Best Lightsaber To Buy For Dueling?
Most Ultrasabers veterans agree that the Heavy Grade blades make the best lightsabers for dueling, especially for high-impact or heavy combat. These blades are incredibly thick and capable of handling all kinds of abuse.
Others prefer maximum brightness. Our Midgrade blades are designed to provide the intense illumination they seek. While our Midgrade blades can still be used for sparring, they are half as thick as their Heavy-Grade counterparts, making them less durable for full-contact dueling. Midgrade blades can bend during heavy or advanced sparring sessions, but because they are made of the same polycarbonate material, they will not break.
Something to keep in mind when selecting the best lightsaber to buy for dueling: Heavy Grade blades are, as the name suggests, heavier than Midgrade types. If you’re mainly into spins, trick work, or choreography, a Heavy Grade blade may feel too cumbersome for fast maneuvers.

Saber Effects & Core Technology
Each blade is available with our very own Ultraedge technology. Ultraedge blades are made from white polycarbonate, which extends illumination all the way to the blade’s edge, creating a “fuller” and more realistic appearance.
Every Ultrasabers emitter is crafted to a standard measurement, allowing any saber in the arsenal to accept most blade lengths and grades, making it easy to swap blades for dueling, cosplay, or display. Many Ultrasabers owners keep multiple blade lengths on hand to suit different activities.

What Lightsabers Should I Buy? FAQs
What is the best type of lightsaber to buy?
The best lightsaber depends on whether you want realism, brightness, or durability.
For heavy dueling, Heavy Grade blades are the most durable option. For collectors who want the most realistic ignition and lighting effects, Neopixel and Xenopixel sabers offer the most advanced visuals. If you’re looking for a flexible, everyday option, base-lit RGB sabers provide an exceptional balance of brightness, durability, and price.
What is the most realistic lightsaber you can buy?
Ultrasabers’ character-inspired lightsabers give you authentic, lifelike replicas of iconic Jedi and Sith weapons from the Star Wars universe. Neopixel sabers also offer the most realistic saber blade effects, with full-length LEDs that create movie-accurate ignition, retraction, and color profiles.
What size lightsaber blade is best?
Most adults prefer the standard 36-inch blade, which balances reach and control. Users under 55 inches tall often prefer 32-inch blades for better maneuverability. Initiate sabers with 24-inch blades are ideal for younger duelists.
What’s the difference between Base-lit and Neopixel blades?
Base-lit sabers house LEDs inside the hilt, creating a lightweight, durable blade ideal for dueling. Neopixel blades contain LEDs along the entire blade for maximum brightness and realistic ignition effects. Explore our Xenopixel sabers for premium Neopixel-style performance.
