Master Yoda
Canon: Confirmed Canon
Bio: Master Yoda is an iconic character in the Star Wars universe. Living to be 900 years old, this mysterious being stood only 2 feet 2 inches tall. His height was deceptive, leaving less knowledgeable opponents to underestimate Yoda’s phenomenal lightsaber skills and Force abilities.
Notable Achievements Include:
- Member of the Jedi Council
- Served as the Grand Master of the Jedi Order
- Master to Count Dooku, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, and even taught Ezra Bridger some valuable lessons
- Among the leading Jedi Generals during the Clone Wars
- Led the clone army of the Republic during the Battle of Geonosis
After living for 900 years, Yoda passed away in his old age. With his dying breath, Yoda confirmed for Luke Skywalker that his father was, in fact, Darth Vader. Prior to his death, Master Yoda was contacted by Qui-Gon Jinn, who made Yoda aware that it is possible to maintain consciousness after death and live on as a Force spirit. From there Yoda embarked on a journey to discover the secrets of immortality and was deemed worthy by a group of Force Priestesses to unlock this magnificent ability. Years after his passing, Yoda was still able to commune and provide guidance to Luke Skywalker, as seen in Star Wars: Episode VIII — The Last Jedi.
Fighting style: Master Yoda was highly skilled in the ways of lightsaber combat, particularly Form IV: Ataru. This was a swift form of combat that included elements of Force-assisted acrobatics (somersaults, flips, leaping strikes, etc.) and powerful attacks that came from multiple angles. This form of combat is extremely taxing on the body of the duelist, considering the elaborate focus on gymnastic maneuvers.
Some of Yoda’s additional powers include the skill to deflect Force lightning from Sith opponents and incredible telekinetic abilities, which also allowed Yoda to uncover the alignment of a Force-user by touching them. Yoda was also gifted with Force visions and the ability to communicate telepathically with other Jedi across vast distances.

Qui-Gon Jinn
Canon: Confirmed Canon
Bio: Qui-Gon Jinn was a Master Jedi with strong ties to the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic. As a young Padawan, Qui-Gon Jinn was an apprentice to Master Dooku prior to Dooku’s turn to the Dark Side. Qui-Gon was known as a maverick, disobeying the Jedi Code and following his morals if he felt that his decision was the correct one to make.
Notable Achievements Include:
- Discovered a young Anakin Skywalker on Tatooine, a boy he believed would bring balance to the Force
- Master to Obi-Wan Kenobi and later teacher to Yoda (through the teachings of Force spirit)
- Completion of immortality training to return after death by maintaining consciousness as a Force spirit
Qui-Gon met his death in Theed, the capital city of Naboo. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn arrived in Theed only to be confronted by Darth Maul. The two Jedi fought Darth Maul across a massive stretch of a hangar. However, they were no match for Maul’s double-bladed lightsaber, having to work together to stay in the fight.
Eventually, Darth Maul was able to separate Kenobi and Qui-Gon, leaving Jinn to battle the Sith Lord without the assistance of an apprentice. Although a skilled duelist, he was not able to defeat Darth Maul. Just as Obi-Wan was about to reach Jinn, Maul stabbed Qui-Gon through the torso, fatally wounding him.
Fighting Style: Like Master Yoda, Jinn was an expert in Form IV. Qui-Gon Jinn demonstrated exemplary skills with the Force. He mastered the use of telekinesis and mind tricks to gain the upper hand on unsuspecting foes. Jinn’s true power came in the form of the Force spirit, leading to a chain of events that would spark victory for the Jedi time and time again.

Luminara Unduli
Canon: Confirmed Canon
Bio: Luminara Unduli was a Jedi Master and a native of the planet Mirial. She was a commander during the Clone Wars, participating in the Battle of Geonosis, as well as the Battle of Kashyyyk alongside Master Yoda. Throughout the Clone Wars, she commanded the 41st Elite Corps until her death after Order 66 was executed. Beyond her skills as a Jedi with a green lightsaber, Unduli was also a gifted diplomat.
Notable Achievements Include:
- Master of Barriss Offee
- Helped lead the Republic assault during the Battle of Geonosis
- Joined Mace Windu when the Jedi attempted to apprehend Darth Sidious in his office
- Defended Kashyyyk from the Separatists
After her death, her remains were used as a lure for Jedi who somehow survived Order 66. This was the case with Kanan Jarrus, who barely survived an encounter with the Grand Inquisitor after leading a rescue mission to recover an Unduli he believed was still alive.
Fighting Style: Luminara Unduli was knowledgeable and skilled in Form II: Makashi. Even without weapons, Unduli was a skilled warrior, able to wield hand-to-hand combat and use her extreme flexibility to her advantage. As a Force user, she had a strong ability for mind probing.
Luke Skywalker
Canon: Confirmed Canon
Bio: Luke Skywalker is yet another highly recognizable and significant Jedi with a green lightsaber. Born to Anakin Skywalker and Senator Padme Amidala, Luke was taken by Obi-Wan Kenobi to the planet Tatooine after Padme died in childbirth. His twin sister Leia Organa was taken by ally Senator Bail Organa to Alderaan.
Luke spent his childhood hidden with his relatives, the Lars family, on Tatooine until Kenobi reconnected and taught Luke in the ways of the Force and lightsaber combat. It was then that Kenobi gave Skywalker his father’s blue lightsaber, but it was lost when Darth Vader cut Luke’s hand off during battle on Cloud City. After surviving his encounter with Vader, Luke would then construct his own green lightsaber, which he would wield until the end of his days, notably against Jabba the Hutt’s forces, the Empire, and Moff Gideon’s dark troopers.
Notable Achievements Include:
- Destroyed the Death Star in the Battle of Yavin
- Received training from Master Yoda on the swamp planet of Dagobah
- Inspired Darth Vader to convert back to the Light Side and destroy Darth Sidious
- Trained Rey Skywalker and aided the Resistance’s escape from Kylo Ren
Form V: Shien & Djem So was Luke Skywalker’s fighting style of choice. This combat style incorporated powerful strike variations, strong defensive techniques, and excellent counter-strike movements. Luke became a skilled duelist and obtained advanced Force abilities following his training with Master Yoda. Skywalker was also renowned as an expert pilot, evading Darth Vader, and most notably destroying the Death Star with proton torpedoes. He used his then-developing Force abilities to assist him in the Death Star’s destruction.

Ezra Bridger
Canon: Confirmed Canon
Bio: Ezra Bridger was but a boy when he was discovered on the streets of Lothal by Jedi Kanan Jarrus and the crew of the Ghost. While under Kanan’s tutelage, Ezra would wield a blue lightsaber. After an encounter with Darth Vader that saw both the death of Jarrus and the destruction of Ezra’s lightsaber, this Jedi Padawan would construct his own lightsaber. For many years prior to the Battle of Yavin, Ezra’s second lightsaber carried a green glow, marking him as yet another maverick and force for change who would wield a green saber.
Notable Achievements Include:
- Trained under Kanan Jarrus and assisted the group of rebels aboard the Ghost
- Fought to free humans and aliens alike from the oppression of the Empire
- Gifted his green lightsaber to fellow Ghost crewmember Sabine Wren
- After the fall of the Empire, Ezra would wield a blue lightsaber once more against Grand Admiral Thrawn’s forces
Fighting Style: Much like Master Yoda and Qui-Gon Jinn, Ezra Bridger was skilled in Form IV: Ataru. He also had a knack for Force leaps and using his abilities of perception.

Other Jedi With Green Lightsabers
There are other Star Wars characters with green lightsabers, some of whom are Jedi and others who are Force-sensitive but not full-blown Jedi. One of the more iconic characters to wield this color is Anakin Skywalker. During the Battle of Geonosis in Star Wars: Episode II — The Attack of the Clones, Anakin’s original lightsaber is destroyed in a droid factory. In order to confront Count Dooku, Anakin Skywalker wields a green lightsaber given to him by a fellow Jedi. It’s an iconic confrontation, and a moment, albeit briefly, where Anakin used a green blade.
Though not a full-blown Jedi, Sabine Wren was another Force user who wielded a green lightsaber. She was gifted the blade by Ezra Bridger, and it’s one she would carry with her while training under Ahsoka Tano.
